Welcome to Campus Kids!

Campus Kids is a campus-based mentoring program designed to help children grades 4th -6th succeed in academics and relationship building. It was designed in response to Gonzaga University’s neighborhood challenge to do something to impact the growing numbers of youth at risk for academic failure. Serving as the first formal campus-based mentoring program at Gonzaga, Campus Kids has brought students from the Logan Neighborhood to campus to spend time with their Gonzaga University mentor for over 15 years. From 3:30 - 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday, you can find students and their GU mentors engaged in a variety of activities, working on homework and educational games together, and sharing a healthy snack. In addition to Campus Kids, Gonzaga mentors visit their mentee at school once a week, and once a month they participate in a Saturday activity with their mentee. In the past, Saturday activities have included ice skating, a trip to Greenbluff farms, a trip to Cat Tales, and our annual Winter Wonderland party. In facilitating opportunities for Logan's at-risk youth to interact with college students, the program establishes successful relationships, provides opportunities for participation in varied academic, recreational, and social activities, and helps mentees to create a vision for their future. |

Campus Kids is a year-long commitment for GU students. To establish sustainable relationships, we encourage mentors who are willing to continue in the program with their mentee for longer than one year to apply, but this is not a requirement. Anyone who loves working with children and who seeks to create a positive impact in a child’s life should apply. If you have any questions, we encourage you to visit us at the CCASL II Mentoring House on campus, located along DeSmet circle between Campion dorms and the Honors house, or contact Katie Kaiser at 509-313-6821 (ext. 6821), or Kaiser@gonzaga.edu. |
