Frequently Asked Questions
Who can use the services?^
Individual counseling services are available on a short-term basis for all currently enrolled students. See Office Hours on how to make an appointment.
What about confidentiality?^
Confidentiality is strictly maintained. Your identity and any disclosures made in the course of the counseling relationship, will be regarded as confidential. Confidential information will not be shared with anyone outside the center without your expressed written consent, unless there is a clear and imminent danger to yourself or another. Visits to the center are not part of your academic record.
Are there any fees for the services?^
There is no fee for the individual counseling services. There is a $15 fee for processing of the Myers Briggs Type Indicator and a $25 fee for processing of the Strong Interest Inventories. If students are in need of specialized services and are referred by a counselor to off-campus professionals, the cost of these services are the responsibility of the student. All students should be covered with adequate health and accident insurance to avoid the unexpected interruption of their education by high medical expenses.
What services are beyond the scope of the center?^
Occasionally, students have concerns that may require specialized services and the counselors can serve as consultants in the process of referrals to appropriate community professionals. Some concerns for specialized services include: alcohol rehabilitation, family therapy, eating disorders, chronic psychological conditions, long-term therapy, and learning disabilities assessment.
