Parents as Partners

/
It's important that we partner with parents in order to provide the best possible support and opportunities to our students.  Below are career development and support resources available to parents and students of Gonzaga University.

National Association of Colleges & Employers (NACE)

The Office of Parent & Family Programs

Crosby Student Center #100-C | (509) 313-4154 | parents&family@gonzaga.edu

The  intent of our office  is to make the Gonzaga campus a “home away from home” by offering parents and families a full range of services and resources.  We are available to answer your questions, and, via the Parent Newsletter, can provide communicative publications for your convenience.

Counseling Center

324 E. Sharp Avenue | (509) 313-4054 | ccac@gonzaga.edu

Individual career counseling invites a student to become actively involved in the process of researching and planning for one's career. It is highly recommended that a student, by graduation, is able to understand their skills, interests, values, and personality characteristics, and to be able to articulate these to a potential employer. Through the career counseling process, a student has the opportunity to work with a counselor to clarify the vital question:  "Who Am I?"  This process would likely entail completing the Strong Interest Inventory and the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, and using the SIGI 3 computer career exploration program as tools to systematically examine one's life in terms of developing a career plan.  Personal agency (being self -aware and actively developing one's potential) is the message we relay to students as we assist them in developing realistic strategies to reach their career goals.

Gonzaga Alumni Mentor Program (GAMP)

Crosby Center #213 | (509) 313-4048 | gamp@gonzaga.edu

GAMP assists individuals in exploring alternative career fields and in developing a network of contacts by matching them with alumni mentors in a particular career field.

Making decisions about a future career field can be an intimidating experience for students with limited work experience.  With the help of an experienced mentor, students can explore the realities of the workplace and make career decisions that are aligned with their skills, interests and values. These relationships also serve as training exercises in the art of networking, interviewing and general professional protocol. These relationships serve as the foundation for a future professional network. GAMP also organizes networking events on campus and regional events in Spokane, Seattle, Portland, San Francisco, San Jose, and New York. These events allow students to practice their networking skills and to make connections with alumni and friends in a variety of professional fields.

The Office of Student Employment

College Hall #126 | (509) 313-6588 | guevara@gonzaga.edu

Gonzaga University offers work opportunities that are designed to help off-set the cost of education while providing students with valuable work experience. Student Employment is committed to providing resources to all students who wish to find on or off-campus employment while attending Gonzaga. Student Employment assists students with employment but does not provide job placement. Please come and visit us in Student Employment, College Hall, Room 126. Finding a job in college will help you pay for college expenses, gain work experience, learn job-search skills, and network within Gonzaga and the Spokane community.
