Mission Statement

The LGBT Resource Center at Gonzaga University is inspired and guided by the university mission and values of faith, service, justice, leadership, and ethics. It aims to serve as a center for supporting community, networking, research, and education related to concerns shared by students, staff, and faculty of diverse sexual orientations, gender identities, and expressions.

We hope you will join us for our upcoming events!

Always Our children Retreat (AOC)

AOC is described by many as a highlight of their academic year and is regarded with affection and anticipation by students of various sexual orientations.  Framed as an occasion to ask questions, discuss LGBT issues, and exchange personal stories in a safe and open environment, AOC provides a means of developing the individual per the Jesuit tradition of holistic growth.

As previous participants confirm, the retreat affords students an opportunity to grow in strength, solidarity, and faith with their peers by affirming those aspects of identity which are often silenced in greater campus life.  As one student attests, “I consider AOC an opportunity for me to be my whole self—a chance to explore what makes me unique as a student, a disciple, and a member of the LGBT community.”

This year, the AOC Retreat will be held April 15th – April 16th and will highlight the theme of community.

PRIDE Week

Pride Week will be taking place April 11th - April 15th, and there are some exciting events being planned.

We look forward to seeing you there!

GU Commitment to Human Diversity

Diversity affirms our faith-inspired commitment to an inclusive community where human differences thrive within a campus community of equality, solidarity, and common human nature. We seek to nourish difference in an environment characterized by mutual respect and the sustainable creation of a campus climate that attracts and retains community members from diverse backgrounds. In this context, age, gender, ethnicity, disability, social class, religion, culture, sexual orientation, language and other human differences all contribute to the richness of our academic community life. These differences grace us individually as human beings and collectively as a Jesuit, Catholic and humanistic university striving to fulfill our mission.

We aspire to create a university environment that is welcoming and accessible to all students, regardless of gender, race, ethnicity, religion, disability or sexual orientation.
