Andrew Mercer - College Access Corps AmeriCorps

Andrew is an AmeriCorps College Access Corps program coordinator serving with the middle school mentoring programs.  He graduated in June of 2016 from Gonzaga with a BA in History and English with concentrations in Writing and Leadership.  He was a mentor and student leader for Connections mentoring at Garry Middle School and had the great chance to spend his three years working alongside the students and faculty of Garry Middle School.  Originally from Carson City, Nevada, he is excited to get the chance to work with a new community in a new role and continue to learn what the Spokane community has to offer.  When not working, he enjoys checking books off of his extended reading list, trying new foods, and being outside in any capacity. Bailley Wootton - Associate Director

Bailley manages the mentoring programs at CCASL. She received her undergraduate degree in Psychology from Pepperdine University and her master's degree in Social Work from Washington University in St. Louis. Bailley came to CCASL in September 2011 after working for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Middle Tennessee. She is originally from Spokane and is excited to be back in the Northwest! Brandi Praytor-Marsters - Middle School Mentoring Coordinator

Brandi joined the CCASL team in August of 2014 as the Middle School Mentoring Coordinator. She supervises four mentoring programs: Connections, GAME, Eye to Eye, and Zag Study Buddies. She has been in higher education for the past three years and enjoys assisting students in reaching their dreams. Brandi completed three terms of service for the Federal Way Public Schools AmeriCorps team. She is working toward a master’s degree in Student Affairs in Higher Education through Colorado State University, and received a B.S. in Sociology from the University of Idaho. Brandi enjoys spending summer days at the many beaches of Lake Coeur d’Alene. Brooklyn Beeler - College Access Corps AmeriCorps

Brooklyn is an AmeriCorps College Access Corps program coordinator serving at Garry Middle School. She graduated from Gonzaga University in May 2016 with a degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing and a minor in Psychology. She has been a part of the Division I Women’s Rowing team for all four years and she is eager to begin a new chapter of her life here at CCASL. Brooklyn is fortunate of this opportunity and is eager to learn more from the amazing staff and the people she will meet along the way. Darcy Phillips - Service Immersion Coordinator

Darcy joined the CCASL team in August 2015 as the Service Immersion Coordinator. Prior to CCASL, she served as the In-Country Director for Rostro de Cristo, a post graduate volunteer program, in Guayaquil, Ecuador. Emily Paulson - Campus Kitchen Coordinator

Emily is the coordinator for the Campus Kitchen at Gonzaga University.  The Campus Kitchens Project utilizes food recovered from on-campus dining facilities to strengthen bodies, empower the minds of student volunteers, and build communities.  Emily graduated from Gonzaga with a BA in General Studies and an Elementary Education Endorsement.  Contact Emily for current volunteer opportunities at 509.313.6939 or at

Hannah Klaassen - Coordinator of Student and Community Engagement

Hannah began her role as Coordinator of Student and Community Engagement in August of 2015. Prior to joining the CCASL team, she worked for Lutheran Volunteer Corps in the Chicago office. She has a master’s degree in divinity from Chicago Theological Seminary and a master’s degree in social work from the University of Chicago’s School of Social Service Administration. Hannah has experience in chaplaincy, workforce development, refugee resettlement, and communications. Hilary Beardslee - Community Outreach Corrdinator, AmeriCorps VISTA

Hilary joined the CCASL team as the Community Outreach Coordinator, Americorps VISTA for 2016. She will be focusing on building capacity for the student engagement programs so that they can better meet growing student interests and community identified needs in northeast Spokane. She graduated from Eastern Washington University in June 2016 with a BA in Professional Accounting with a double minor in Women & Gender Studies and Sociology. At EWU, Hilary was heavily involved with the Office of Community Engagement where she served as the Senior Leader for the Hunger & Homelessness Outreach Team for two years. Julia Larsen - Program Assistant II

Julia joined CCASL in August 2014 in the role of Program Assistant II for the mentoring programs. Julia is British and has been a U.S resident since 2006. She studied at Hitchin Girls School in Hertfordshire, England where she graduated at the Advanced Level in English and Sociology. Following a 2 year period of traveling and working in Europe, Julia joined the Corporate Sector in the UK where she worked for many years. She is very much looking forward to adapting and using her skills and experience in a non-profit capacity supporting the mission of our students and the CCASL team. Julie Wheaton - Elementary School Mentoring Coordinator

Julie joined the CCASL staff in July 0f 2016 as the Elementary School Mentoring Coordinator. She supervises the Campus Kids and Smile programs. Prior to joining CCASL, she worked in youth development in the Seattle area. Julie holds a BA in Psychology from the University of Washington, a master’s degree in Social Work from Eastern Washington University and a JD from Gonzaga University. Mary Kelly - Community Engaged Learning Program Assistant

Mary enjoys working with the dynamic and committed staff and students at CCASL. She joined the team in August 2010 and is happy to be back on campus working with the students of her alma mater. After Graduating with a BA in Speech Communications, Mary spent 2 ½ years in Niger serving as an Environmental Protection Volunteer with the Peace Corps. Molly Ayers - Director

Molly has over ten years of experience in higher education and the field of civic engagement. As director, she provides leadership and direction to Gonzaga University’s Center for Community Action and Service Learning (CCASL) by working with colleagues across campus and partners in the local community to develop academic and co-curricular engagement opportunities that help address community need. Molly’s passion for this work was first ignited when she served as an AmeriCorps VISTA coordinating service-learning projects for Seattle-based Alliance for Education. Molly is a graduate of Gonzaga University with a BA in History and an MA in Philosophy. Phoebe Oosterhuis - Business Manager

Phoebe joined CCASL as the Program Assistant in July of 2012 and was promoted to Business Manager in June 2016. Originally from Minneapolis, she moved to Spokane in 2010 when her husband accepted a professorship at Gonzaga. Although she misses her family and friends (but not the mosquitos or humidity) in the Midwest, she has loved the opportunity to join the theater community in Spokane. Zach Donahue - College Access Corps AmeriCorps

Zach is an AmeriCorps College Access Corps Elementary School Specialist working primarily with the Campus Kids and Smile programs. He graduated Gonzaga in 2016 with degrees in Economics and History. He also mentored with the Connections program for three years and served as a student leader during his senior year. Along with academic success Zach was a prominent member of Gonzaga’s Mens rugby club, where he served as team captain throughout his four years.
