The Center for Community Action and Service-Learning (CCASL) is seeking FEDERAL WORKSTUDY STUDENTS for various positions working with community service projects. We hire students to help with a wide array of programs that meet needs right here in the Spokane community. Please review the following openings and select your top 3 choices to list in your application below. Most positions have more than one opening, so it is likely that you will be working in pairs or as part of a team. Applicants will need to work 10-15 hours per week. Compensation is $8.55-$10.00/hr depending on experience. In addition, CCASL work-study students are also eligible to receive an AmeriCorps Students in Service awards. POSITION:  Information Technology Specialist (1)

 REPORTS TO:  Janelle Axtell, CCASL Program Assistant III

 POSITION PURPOSE: To design, update, and maintain the CCASL website and to assist CCASL staff with technological needs.

POSITION PURPOSE: To assist the professional staff at CCASL in the day to day management of the department.  Accounting majors are preferred but not required for this position.

POSITION:  Green Jobs Coordinator Assistant

  •  REPORTS TO:  Molly Ayers
    POSITION PURPOSE: To work with CCASL and the Spokane community in advancing the Green Jobs movement, and to promote environmentally responsible standards of living.

  •  Green jobs provide economic growth and living-wage career options that promote taking care of the environment, finding clean energy solutions as well as energy-efficient infrastructures, and restoring previously damaged ecosystems to a healthy state. 

  •  Through community engagement, research, and collaborative efforts, the student will help create a green jobs database available to the larger Spokane community, and also increase awareness of jobs opportunities to populations in need of employment. 

  •  The Green Jobs Assistant will also play a major role in promoting and running the Recycled Notebooks Project, which repurposes old cardboard boxes and paper into useable notebooks.

  • RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE GREEN JOBS COORDINATOR ASSISTANTS: 
    •  Market Recycled Notebooks to students, faculty, staff, and administration to increase the visibility of the program and both number of students who participate and quality of programming.

    •   Plan and help Green Jobs Coordinator to promote various Green Jobs programs and educational forums. 
    • Research and collaborate with local environmental education groups to plan programming and activities

    • Maintain resource binder for project

    • Plan and help with fundraising events and the Notebook project

    • Assist with general duties at CCASL including front desk shifts (1-5 hours per week) and answering inquires from Gonzaga students interested in community service

    • Other duties as assigned

  • PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • A passion and interest in promoting community service projects, student leadership initiatives, and environmental issues

    • Student leadership experience (in a student club or leadership organization)

    • Demonstrated organizational skills (maintaining files, typing, setting/completing project deadlines, etc.)

    • Strong communication skills
    • Experience with Microsoft Office software, including Word, Excel, and Outlook

    •  Ability to work both independently and with a team

    • Self-Motivated

    • Ability to continue employment for one full academic year

  • HOURS:  This is a part-time position averaging 10-15 hours per week.  Hours and times are flexible around your class schedule.
