GU Faculty to Present 'The Other Side of War'

Gonzaga University College of Arts and Sciences faculty have developed a fall lecture series titled, "The Other Side of War " that includes the following lectures, all of which are free and open to the public.

On Sept, 28, from noon-1 p.m., in the Jundt Auditorium in the Jundt Art Center on the Gonzaga campus will be Jonathan Isacoff, assistant professor of political science at GU, who will discuss, "Through the Looking Glass of Terror: A View of America's War on Terror from the Outside-In."

On Oct. 12, from noon-1 p.m., also in the Jundt Auditorium, the second lecture in the series will be "America's War on Terror: Effects on the Home Front." This event will be a panel discussion with Eileen Bell-Garrison, Gonzaga's dean of library services; psychology Assistant Professor Patrick Mulick; and Gonzaga School of Law Associate Professor Sheri Engelken; and law Professor James Vache.

From 7-9 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 13, James Howard Kuntsler, author of "The Geography of Nowhere" and a regular contributor to Rolling Stone magazine, will discuss his new book, "The Long Emergency: Surviving the Converging Catastrophes of the 21st Century." The book addresses the economic, political and social implications of the end of oil. This lecture will be held in the Globe Room of Cataldo Hall at GU. This lecture is sponsored by the GU Academic Vice President's office and the College of Arts and Sciences.

Concluding the series, Professor Thomas Shannon of the Worcester Polytechnic Institute will address the topic, "Recent Catholic Thought on War and Peace" at noon, Nov. 17 in the Foley Center Teleconference Room.
