| Mike Sealock received the prestigious award recently at Fort Lewis, Wash. |
Gonzaga University ROTC Cadet Mike Sealock was recognized as a Regimental Honor Graduate at the Leadership Development and Assessment Course recently at Fort Lewis, Wash. Like the Gonzaga ROTC alumni Kenji Price, Andy Szymczak, and Mike Omodt before him, Sealock was the No. 1 cadet of 450 cadets in his regiment.
Sealock, a senior journalism major from Rohnert Park, Calif., will serve in the Army upon graduation in May.
Price and Symczak, who graduated in 2002, both earned the award in 2001; Omodt, a 2003 alumnus, won the honor in 2002. The winner of the prestigious award is presented with a saber in front of the 449 others in the regiment, family and friends.
"He's a fine young man and it's wonderful that he was honored," said Lt. Col. Alan Westfield, an assistant professor of military science at Gonzaga. "He is also a very humble man. When I saw him afterward, he said 'I'm trying to help others succeed for the good of the team.' He made some good friends, too."
