GU Theatre Launches 'Pride and Prejudice' Oct. 23
Gonzaga University Theatre will launch its 2009-2010 season with Jane Austen’s classic love story, “Pride and Prejudice,” adapted for the stage by British Broadcasting Company writer Marcus Goodwin. The play follows the amorous adventures of the Bennet sisters, particularly of middle-class Miss Elizabeth Bennet and the aristocrat Mr. Fitzwilliam Darcy. Filled with intrigue, misunderstanding, passion and enduring love, this adaptation will be staged in a highly theatrical style, while remaining true to the novel.

“Pride and Prejudice” opens on Friday, Oct. 23 at 7:30 p.m. in the Harry and Colleen Magnuson Theatre located on the first floor of College Hall at the east end of the building. Tickets for all students are available for $8; $10 for Gonzaga employees; and $12 for adults.

Performances continue at 2 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 24; at 7:30 p.m., Oct. 29-30; and at a 2 p.m. matinee Nov. 1. The action comes together under the skilled and experienced direction of Brian C. Russo, Ph.D., associate professor of theatre arts.
