Thompson is an equity investment analyst with more than 15 years experience in the financial services industry. He covers U.S. small- and mid-cap companies for Capital Research Company. Prior to joining the company in July 2006, he was a managing director in the equity research department at CIBC World Markets, vice president of equity research at Merrill Lynch, and also worked at Dain Bosworth. 

A chartered Financial Analyst®, Thompson holds a Bachelor of Arts in accounting from Gonzaga and is based in New York.
