Memories to last a lifetime are born with every Pilgrimage and the 40th Anniversary Pilgrimage will be even more special.
Memories to last a lifetime  are born with every Pilgrimage and the 40th Anniversary Pilgrimage will be even more special.
Gonzaga faculty, staff, students, friends, and especially alumni are encouraged to attend the University’s 40th annual Pilgrimage, an annual rite of the University’s new academic year, on Saturday, Sept. 19. Organizers expect 200-300 participants this year for the one-day, 9-mile hike through North Idaho’s wilderness to historic Cataldo Mission, Idaho’s oldest standing structure.

“It is the only retreat to bring together every member of the Gonzaga community,” said Megan McCormick, coordinator of freshman retreats and student faith activities. “Pilgrimage is an opportunity for the Gonzaga family to come together at one of the most significantly historical locations in the Northwest for the Catholic Church and the Jesuits: the Cataldo Mission.”

Pilgrimage also represents an opportunity for all parts of the Gonzaga community to pray, contemplate, discuss and exercise together while enjoying the stunning natural beauty of the area and the historical sites along the hike to the Mission.

Pilgrimage encompasses one of the most important aspects of Gonzaga life: living and serving together as one community. Through this year’s trek, pilgrims will bond, reflect, worship and learn with and through their peers and fellow community members.

Registration forms for this year’s Pilgrimage can be found in the University Ministry office located on the main floor of the Crosby Student Center or online. For questions or more information contact McCormick at (509) 313-4243 or via e-mail.
