Gonzaga University students, faculty and staff are cordially invited to an open house at the new Bishop White Seminary, 429 E. Sharp Ave., from 2-5 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 13.

The house opened for residents May 1 and is full with 20 seminarians and three resident priests. All the men are preparing to become diocesan priests; 10 are studying to become priests for the Catholic Diocese of Spokane, 10 are from four other dioceses in the Northwest.

Three men, one studying for the Spokane Diocese and two from the Diocese of Yakima, are studying English as a Second Language in preparation for advanced studies. While education levels vary from high school graduate to those with master’s degrees, all the men are preparing to enter a theologate for four years of further study prior to ordination. All the men plan to remain in the United States after ordination.
