Loyola Press Launches Ignatian Spirituality Site

Fr. Stephen Hess, S.J., reviewed the Web site for @GONZAGA readers.
Fr. Stephen Hess, S.J., who reviewed the Web site for @GONZAGA readers, said it's a good source of spiritual direction.
For those of you pining for a dose of that singular spirituality practiced by the Jesuits, pine no more. Ignatian Spirituality.com, a new Web site by Loyola Press, offers resources for Ignatian prayer, retreats, spiritual direction, community, voices and more, as well as a blog covering topics from the best Ignatian songs to remarkable Jesuits and ministries.

It gets two thumbs up from Gonzaga’s leader of all things spiritual, Father Stephen Hess, S.J., interim vice president for mission.

“I am impressed,” said Fr. Hess, whom @Gonzaga asked to review the site.

“It provides a clear and concise description of some key Ignatian and Jesuit values and principles in a manner that speaks to a wide range of people with varying degrees of knowledge and experience of Ignatian Spirituality,” Fr. Hess noted. “I like their emphasis on the examen and reflection, which is key for all of us, especially in this day and age. They also bring in theologians, philosophers, etc. from various periods who write and think from the Ignatian perspective – which is a good thing.”

Fr. Hess also likes the blog, which facilitates the sharing of thoughts and inspiration.

“I hope all kinds of people from various backgrounds become acquainted with the site as it could prove helpful and spiritually enriching,” Fr. Hess said. “I’m sure there are areas that can be improved upon, but this is a good start.”
