Gonzaga's Wall Goes Virtual

Gonzaga’s storied Wall entered the 21st century April 28 by going virtual. As generations of alumni know, the Wall has been a quirky part of Gonzaga’s campus since the 1960s, when it was built by employees and students with spare concrete. Its original purpose was to keep cars off the DeSmet lawn but it wasn’t long before students found the Wall ideal for messages, which were painted over by grounds crew. Eventually, students’ messages took priority and it became and remains a central message center for all things Gonzaga.

Today, while the real Wall continues to grow thicker with each layer of paint, it is also available online to anyone, anytime, anywhere. ZagWall brings users limitless opportunities to communicate in the same creative, time-honored fashion generations of Zags have come to know. The online, interactive communication forum is created and monitored by Gonzaga and its users. Alumni, students, faculty, staff, future students, parents and friends are welcome to register and enjoy it.

Using ZagWall is easy. Sign in, create your own wall or view/write on others’ walls. Tools include paint colors, applicators, fonts and photos. Saved ZagWall messages are archived on the timeline and appear live on the public ZagWall. Users can choose to share their ZagWall with friends via e-mail or post it on their Facebook page.

ZagWall will continually be updated with new features, including a search for walls created by classmates or friends, iconic GU stickers, and personal ZagWalls shared only with select friends. It’s the latest way to stay connected, Gonzaga style.

See you at the Wall – ZagWall, that is.
