View Regis Philbin Video on Gonzaga, Bing Crosby

Talk show host and entertainer Regis Philbin spent 90 minutes on Gonzaga University's campus March 21 visiting Bing Crosby's childhood home, Gonzaga's public Crosby Memorabilia Collection in the Crosby Student Center, and
the collection of Crosby items that number more than 25,000 in the Rare Books Room of Gonzaga's Foley Center. Crosby's former home now serves as the Gonzaga University alumni office.

Philbin was in Spokane for a show at Northern Quest Casino. For weeks before his visit, he made reference on his "Live with Regis and Kelly" show about his visit to Crosby's old stomping grounds. Crosby attended Gonzaga for three-and-a-half years before moving to Hollywood and starting a career that would change the entertainment industry. Philbin had grown up in The Great Depression listening to Crosby on the radio, and remarked how Bing's positive songs were so personally uplifting. Philbin met Crosby in the 1960s. Philbin's visit brought back lots of memories, some of which he shared with his audience on the March 23 Live show.
