Gonzaga U. Debate Squad Sends 2 Teams to Nationals

Bulldogs’ debate Coach Glen Frappier says the Gonzaga debate squad, which finished the regular season ranked No. 12 in the nation, will send the teams of senior Nick Bormann and junior Abe Corrigan and senior Brent Hamilton and junior James Joseph to the NDT where they will join 74 other qualified teams. The National Debate Tournament will be held March 25-30, hosted by the University of Texas.

Gonzaga’s debaters competed at the regional championships Feb. 28-March 2, hosted by Whitman College in Walla Walla, with the team of Bormann and Corrigan advancing to the final round as the No. 2 seed but was defeated on a split decision.

Since each school can qualify only two teams to the NDT, the rest of Gonzaga’s debate squad will compete at the Cross Examination Debate Association National Tournament to be held March 20-24 at Idaho State University in Pocatello.
