Editor's Note: Welcome to the Gonzaga e-Newsletter

Welcome to @Gonzaga

Dear Readers,

Welcome to the second issue of Gonzaga University’s new electronic newsletter titled @Gonzaga, which is scheduled for publication in the middle of every month. It will help keep you abreast of what’s happening at Gonzaga in between issues of Gonzaga Quarterly, the alumni publication.

We intend for this monthly e-publication to be informative, entertaining and most of all useful in providing you with the latest happenings at Gonzaga – including podcasts of some of our best faculty lectures – and exciting things to come. This publication is sent to all Gonzaga alumni, benefactors, faculty, staff, students, friends and others who wish to receive it.

We hope @Gonzaga will help connect Gonzaga alumni with their alma mater and with each other in this great “Gonzaga family.” One way we plan to do that is by communicating to you the successes of our “family” members — students, faculty, staff and alumni. But we can only do that with your help. Please share your ideas for stories with us. Take advantage of all that this publication has to offer. From the online Calendar of Events to the many online videos and podcasts of outstanding lectures, an Archive of News Releases dating back to 2005, sign up to receive all Gonzaga News Service releases or simply those related to sports or an individual sport only. Also, you may check out Gonzaga’s latest national rankings for academics and other areas of excellence. Click the following link to stay up on all of the stories being written about Gonzaga in the News or find out more about Gonzaga’s Be Inspired campaign. If you wish to make a gift to Gonzaga, by all means do!

This publication is for you, so please help us make it serve you best by providing suggestions or critique. Alumni, we’ve got a Web page designed to serve you and answer as many of your questions as possible. If you cannot find a recent issue of Gonzaga Quarterly, all issues of GQ and many of the University-produced publications are now online as well.

Another key function of this e-newsletter is to help keep you informed about important news and stories from the University in between issues of the GONZAGA Quarterly, the alumni tabloid news-magazine. In fact, we're busy preparing the Winter issue of GQ to send to you via U.S. Mail. Here are some of the stories to look for in that issue:

  • Father Spitzer's outline of a new vision for Gonzaga's future;
  • How Coach Kelly Graves’ insights and style have elevated women’s basketball to a Zag phenomenon.
  • “Faith, Reason and Joy” – a look at how faculty use spirituality to inform their teaching; and, among other stories, “Plenty O’Tooles,” a profile of an inimitable three-generation family of Montana Zags.

If you have any story ideas, concerns or suggestions, please do not hesitate to send them to me, the editor. I welcome your ideas and will attempt to answer each message.

Sincerely,
Peter Tormey
