Forum on Future of Journalism Oct. 23

The Northwest Alliance for Responsible Media and the World Affairs Council of Spokane will present a public forum titled, “Where Journalism Is Going and How We Protect Its Values,” from 7-9 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 23, in Room 20 of Academic Center at Riverpoint Campus. The event is free and open to the public.

This National Press Club Centennial Forum on The First Amendment, Freedom of the Press and the Future of Journalism will feature leading Spokane journalists and will be moderated by Gil Klein, a veteran national correspondent, former National Press Club president and director of the Club’s Centennial Forums program.

The program will include a short video and panelists include:

  • Gary Graham, editor of the Spokane Spokesman-Review;
  • Ted S. McGregor, Jr., editor and publisher, The Pacific Northwest Inlander;
  • Jamie Tobias Neely, assistant professor of journalism, Eastern Washington University and opinion columnist for The Spokesman Review; and
  • John Caputo, professor of communication at Gonzaga and director of the Northwest Alliance for Responsible Media.

Co-sponsors for the event include the journalism department at Eastern Washington University and the master’s program in Communication & Leadership Studies at Gonzaga University.
