The Gonzaga Student Body Association, members of the Gonzaga Golf Club and GU Intramurals will host the annual Matt Madison Memorial Golf Tournament on Sunday, Sept. 21 to honor former GU student Matt Madison, who died in his junior year. The format is a four-person scramble with a shotgun start at 2:30 p.m. at Indian Canyon Golf Course in Spokane.

The event is already filled but all are welcome to attend as spectators. The Gonzaga community and the public are invited to attend the banquet following the tournament but those interested in attending must RSVP by Tuesday, Sept. 16 to Andrea Woods, GSBA president, at (509) 313-6874 or via e-mail

Madison, from Bozeman, Mont., died while on a trip to Scotland in January 2006, during his junior year at the Gonzaga-in-Florence (Italy) study abroad program. An All-State high school golfer, Madison died in a fall from a steep incline while trying to get a look at the legendary Old Course at St. Andrews, the oldest golf course in the world.
