Gonzaga University will host a special 9-11 Memorial Service this evening (Thursday, Sept. 11) from 8:30-9 p.m. at its 9-11 Memorial marker located near the front steps of the Crosby Student Center to mark the horrific events that rocked America on this date seven years ago.
The public is cordially invited to join the Gonzaga community of students, faculty, staff and alumni as they memorialize Sept. 11 and “remember those who perished seven years ago on 9-11,” said Rev. Mark McGregor, S.J., event coordinator. The event is free.
The 9-11 Memorial Service will honor fallen American troops and pray for peace, Rev. McGregor said. The event also will include a musical ensemble of Gonzaga singers and a color guard from Gonzaga’s ROTC battalion. Also, Gonzaga student Stephanie Shriver will speak about the work she has done with children who lost family members in the 9-11 tragedies.
Following the Memorial Service, all are welcome to join the University’s regularly scheduled 9:10 p.m. Mass in the University Chapel, which is located on the third floor of College Hall (formerly the Administration Building).
For more information about the Memorial Service, contact Rev. Mark McGregor, S.J., at (509) 313-4239 or via e-mail.
