| GU to Host Emerging Leaders Honor Event June 25 | |
|
Gonzaga University will host the Gonzaga Emerging Leaders 2008 Achievement Event from 4:30-6:30 p.m., Wednesday, June 25 in the Herak Club Room of the McCarthey Athletic Center with a hosted social at 6:30 p.m. that will include complimentary beer, wine and appetizers.
Gonzaga’s Emerging Leaders Program blends professional development learning with practical experience that can be measured at the bottom line. Participants benefit from a company project assignment, leadership skill assessment, mentor support, and educational courses on the practical aspects of managing others.
The public is invited to come celebrate the achievement of Gonzaga’s pilot cohort completing this unique leadership development journey. The emerging leaders and the company they represent are as follows:
· Michael Clary, corporate counsel; Hecla Mining Co. The event includes talks by Joe Albert, assistant professor in the Gonzaga Master’s of Organizational Leadership Program; Tony Bonanzino, Ph.D., former CEO of Hollister-Stier Labs in Spokane; Drew MacAfee, managing principal of Mercer Consulting; and Greg Tarr, former CEO of URM Stores. Albert will discuss “Inspiration,” Bonanzino will address the topic of “Company Impact”; MacAfee will discuss “Mentoring Leaders”; and Tarr will speak on the topic of “Value Revisited.”
In support of this pilot effort, the following professionals mentored a participant and helped Gonzaga design the mentor aspects of the Emerging Leader Program: Rick Beebe, BDO Seidman; Jeff Benesch, Trans-Systems, Inc.; Pat Cerutti, attorney; MacAfee; and Dean Sonnenberg and Tarr, who represented URM Stores.
