Gonzaga University Academic Vice President Thayne McCulloh recognized 10 Gonzaga faculty for exemplary performance during the 2007-08 academic year at the recent Academic Honors Convocation. In addition, four retiring faculty were recognized and two additional faculty received individuals honors.

Four retiring faculty were recognized and two additional faculty received awards for leadership and service-learning.

Awards for exemplary nontenured faculty went to philosophy Assistant Professor Kirk Besmer; history Assistant Professor Andy Goldman; English Assistant Professor Heather Easterling; sociology and criminal justice Assistant Professor William Hayes; and mathematics Assistant Professor John Villalpando.

Earning exemplary tenured faculty awards were philosophy Professor Wayne Pomerleau; chemistry Professor David Cleary; biology Professor Maria Bertagnolli; philosophy Associate Professor Brian Clayton; and religious studies Professor Patrick McCormick. Named Professor Emeriti were religious studies Professor James Dallen, communication arts Professor Bud Hazel and Law Professor Jim Vaché. Named Associate Professor Emerita was doctoral studies Associate Professor Sandra Wilson.

Philosophy Assistant Professor Ellen Maccarone received the faculty Diversity Leadership Award for 2008 while the Service Learning Faculty Award went to journalism Adjunct Instructor Kristina Morehouse.
