Regional Business Plan Competition Winners Named

SPOKANE, Wash. –The 8th Annual Business Plan Competition, sponsored by Gonzaga University’s Hogan Entrepreneurial Leadership Program in collaboration with Eastern Washington University and Whitworth University, announced the winners at the final awards ceremony at EWU’s Riverpoint Campus.

The winners of each category are as follows:

Community-Based – Telect Entrepreneurial Venture Award ($7,000):
Green Cupboards,
Gonzaga University

Social Enterprise – Avista Social Impact Award ($7,000):
Maji Filter Co., Gonzaga University

Student Generated – Itron Knowledge to Shape your Future Award ($10,000):
BuySellFix (Whitworth University)

Narrowed down from 44 participating teams from the three universities in addition to Washington State University, 16 finalists in the three categories – community-based, social enterprise, and student generated – presented their plans to judges on the morning of April 18. The final decisions were made just hours before revealing the winners later that evening.

 

 

This annual event is the largest business plan competition in the Inland Northwest. It offers prize money totaling $42,000 as a result of a $20,000 grant from the Herbert B. Jones Foundation as well as the generous contributions from Itron, Avista and Telect.
