Gonzaga Experience…Live!, known as “GEL Weekend,” begins Saturday, April 19 and runs through Sunday (April 20) with a host of festivities themed “The Gonzaga Games” as high school seniors accepted to Gonzaga University experience campus life.
The weekend includes a host of festivities, including campus tours, academic sessions, guided tours of Spokane, meals, a club and organization fair, Saturday night merriment and an opportunity to live on campus with a Gonzaga student.
Participants will choose from a diverse array of academic, social and athletic events, including watching performances by GU’s a cappella group Big Bing Theory and Gonzaga University Theatre Sports, which is improvisational theatre known as “GUTS,” playing ultimate Frisbee and kickball, attending a dance at Unity House and working with current engineering students and faculty in a hands-on project building a windmill.
GU’s Ambassadors, a student volunteer organization that assists the admission office by hosting visitors and giving campus tours, run the weekend. GEL is the largest recruiting event for Gonzaga’s office of admission because the majority of students who take part in GEL Weekend decide to attend GU. In past years, up to 80 percent of GEL participants have committed to studying at Gonzaga the following fall.
For more information, visit the GEL Weekend Web site at or contact GEL coordinators Claire Davis, Blake Underriner and Adrian Reyes at (800) 322-2584 or send an e-mail to GEL.
