For the first time, Gonzaga University will host the annual Spokane Intercollegiate Research Conference (SIRC) this year, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday, April 12, in Gonzaga’s College Hall (formerly the Administration Building).
Students’ presentations are free and open to the public. The conference is designed to promote and recognize distinguished, original student research performed in partnership with faculty or other mentors. The conference brings together students and faculty from several disciplines and all the local universities — Gonzaga, Whitworth University, Washington State University-Spokane, and Eastern Washington University.
All student presenters, faculty sponsors and their guests are welcome to attend a luncheon from 1:15-2:15 p.m. featuring Dr. Bassem A. Bejjani as keynote speaker. Bejjani, chief medical officer of the Signature Genomic Laboratories in Spokane, will discuss the ethical dimensions of modern genetic research.
For more information, contact Patricia Terry, associate dean of Gonzaga’s College of Arts and Sciences, at (509) 323-3885 or via e-mail at or visit the SIRC’s Web site.
