(SPOKANE, Wash.) — Congratulations to the Gonzaga University students who were winners in the recent Young Artists Concerto/Aria Competition held Feb. 23 on the Gonzaga campus. The winners were chosen from a competitive pool of talented GU students.
The winners are sophomore sopranos Shelby Edens, Lakeside, Mont., and Victoria Perri, Scotts Valley, Calif. Also, sophomore Madison Feddersen, Los Angeles, won for the cello, while senior Erica Young, Oceanside, Calif., won for flute.
These soloists will be featured in the GU Symphony Concert at 7:30 p.m., Monday, April 28 at the Bing Crosby Theater (formerly The Met) downtown Spokane. Following are the pieces the students are expected to perform that evening:
- Erica Young, Flute — “Fantasie” by Hüe.
- Madison Feddersen, Cello — “Hungarian Rhapsody” by Popper.
- Victoria Perri, Soprano — “Bester Jüngling” from The Impresario by Mozart.
- Shelby Edens, Soprano — “Deh Vieni non tardar” from Marriage of Figaro by Mozart.
