The Gonzaga University Choir will travel to western Washington during the weekend of Feb. 16-17 to perform a concert entitled “Mysteries and Miracles” in Puyallup and Seattle. Performances will be free and open to the public. The choir will perform in Puyallup at 7:30 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 16, at Christ Episcopal Church, located at 210 Fifth Street S.W. The following night, the group will perform in Seattle at 7:30 p.m., at Queen Anne Christian Church, located at 1316 Third Avenue W. In addition to the two evening performances, the choir will sing during a church service beginning at 10 a.m., Sunday, Feb. 17, at Christ Episcopal Church. The group will perform a wide variety of music, including works by Antonio Vivaldi, Benjamin Britten, Eric Whitacre and Michio Mamiya. Many of the pieces featured will explore themes of sacred mysteries and unexpected miracles. The GU Choir is an elite ensemble made up of student singers. The group, which has been an intrinsic part of GU’s artistic life since Gonzaga was founding in 1887, will be led by director Daniel Koh, who received a master’s degree in music and another master’s degree of musical arts in choral conducting from the Yale School of Music.
