Fox Sports' Shuken to Talk Sports Business Jan. 29

Mark Shuken, senior vice president and general manager of Fox Sports Network Northwest, will discuss “The Business of Sports on Television: Changes, Wins and Losses” at a Gonzaga University Dean’s Business Forum breakfast on Tuesday, Jan. 29.

Cost for the program, which runs from 7:30-8:30 a.m., in the Jepson Center’s Wolff Auditorium, is $12.50 per person and includes breakfast, which begins at 7 a.m. The lecture, which is open to the public, is presented by the GU School of Business Administration Dean Clarence H. Barnes and the Dean’s Forum Board.

Since 1996, Shuken has served FSN in a number of positions ranging from chief operating officer to senior vice president and general manager. In May 2007, he was promoted to his current role responsible for all aspects of managing the FSN Northwest region. In 2008, FSN Northwest will present more than 200 sporting events, including the Seattle Mariners, Seattle SuperSonics, and NCAA basketball and football.

Shuken will discuss complex issues involving the economics of sports rights fees, and advertising and sponsorships. In a world of multimedia, Internet and digital strategies, his views on the business of teams, their leagues and university involvement should be of interest to many.
As usual with the Dean’s Business Forum breakfasts, Shuken will leave plenty of time after his presentation to answer questions from the audience.

To attend the lecture, please RSVP to the Dean’s Business Forum Web site
or call the School of Business Administration at (509) 323-5991. To receive e-mail notifications about the Forum’s upcoming events, register at the aforementioned Web site.
