Choir, Schola Oct. 19 Concert Airs Sunday, Monday

If you missed the Gonzaga University Gregorian Schola and the GU Choir concert on Oct. 19, take heart. The concert will be rebroadcast Sunday and Monday on Gonzaga’s radio station KAGU, located at 88.7 on your FM dial. The Fall Family Concert will air on KAGU-FM on Sunday (Oct. 28) at 10 a.m., and again Monday evening at 9 p.m. The concert, performed at St. Aloysius Church, includes sacred and secular pieces from the past seven centuries. Daniel Koh, Gonzaga’s director of choral activities, directs both groups. The Gonzaga GregorianSchola is an on-campus liturgical choir primarily made up of students. The group performed a cappella sacred works ranging from ancient Gregorian chant to 20th-century pieces, including works by Hans Leo Hassler, Josquin des Prez, Charles Villiers Stanford, and others. The Gonzaga University Choir is comprised exclusively of students. The Choir performed selections from Antonio Vivaldi’s “Magnificat in G minor” and Morten Lauridsen’s “Mid-Winter Songs,” as well as other a cappella works by Anton Bruckner and Cesar Carrillo.
