GU Choir, Gregorian Schola Perform Concert Oct. 19

The Gonzaga University Gregorian Schola and the GU Choir will perform sacred and secular pieces from the past seven centuries in the GU Fall Family Concert from 7-8 p.m., Friday, Oct. 19, at St. Aloysius Church on campus. It is free and open to the public.

Daniel Koh, Gonzaga’s director of choral activities, will direct both groups.

The Gonzaga Gregorian Schola is an on-campus liturgical choir primarily made up of students. The group will perform a cappella sacred works ranging from ancient Gregorian chant to 20th-century pieces, including works by Hans Leo Hassler, Josquin des Prez, Charles Villiers Stanford, and others.

The Gonzaga University Choir is a select on-campus choral ensemble that is comprised exclusively of students. The Choir will perform selections from Antonio Vivaldi’s “Magnificat in G minor” and Morten Lauridsen’s “Mid-Winter Songs,” as well as other a cappella works by Anton Bruckner and Cesar Carrillo.
