| GU Choir, Gregorian Schola Perform Concert Oct. 19 | |
|
The Gonzaga University Gregorian Schola and the GU Choir will perform sacred and secular pieces from the past seven centuries in the GU Fall Family Concert from 7-8 p.m., Friday, Oct. 19, at St. Aloysius Church on campus. It is free and open to the public. Daniel Koh, Gonzaga’s director of choral activities, will direct both groups. The Gonzaga Gregorian Schola is an on-campus liturgical choir primarily made up of students. The group will perform a cappella sacred works ranging from ancient Gregorian chant to 20th-century pieces, including works by Hans Leo Hassler, Josquin des Prez, Charles Villiers Stanford, and others. The Gonzaga University Choir is a select on-campus choral ensemble that is comprised exclusively of students. The Choir will perform selections from Antonio Vivaldi’s “Magnificat in G minor” and Morten Lauridsen’s “Mid-Winter Songs,” as well as other a cappella works by Anton Bruckner and Cesar Carrillo.
