Stand-up Comic Josh Blue Performs Here Oct. 20

Comedian Josh Blue, accompanied by Tig Notaro, will provide an evening of laughs and entertainment starting at 7 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 20, in the McCarthey Athletic Center at Gonzaga University.

The event, sponsored by the Gonzaga Student Body Association, is open to the public. Tickets are $20 for general admission, and are free for children ages 2 and younger. Tickets are on sale through the TicketsWest Web site.

Blue, winner of Season Four of NBC’s “Last Comic Standing,” was born with cerebral palsy. He has won acclaim for achieving his dreams despite his challenges, and United Cerebral Palsy has applauded him for breaking down barriers for people with disabilities.

Blue often addresses his cerebral palsy during his sketches but does so with grace. He also is an artist and a member of the U.S. Paralympics soccer team. In addition to winning “Last Comic Standing,” Blue was the grand prize winner of the 2004 Las Vegas Comedy Festival’s Royal Flush Comedy Competition. He was the first stand-up comedian to be a guest on “The Ellen DeGeneres show,” and he has appeared on Comedy Central’s “Mind of Mencia.” To learn more about Blue, visit his Web site .

Notaro, a finalist with Blue on “Last Comic Standing,” can be seen frequently on Comedy Central. She is a writer and producer of comedic short films and frequents sets on TV shows, such as “The Sarah Silverman Program” and “Dog Bites Man,” as well as doing stand-up comedy at multiple venues across the United States. “GSBA is excited to bring more amazing events this year to the McCarthey Athletic Center and to be able to once again welcome to the Spokane community,” said Gonzaga Activities Board (GAB) Coordinator Alison Guzenski.
