GU Athletes, Students Team Up for Inchelium Hoops

Gonzaga University Comprehensive Leadership Program (CLP) students will team up with several Gonzaga men’s and women’s basketball players to host the third annual Inchelium Basketball Clinic. The clinic for children from many regional tribal reservations will take place from 10 a.m.-1 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 6, at the Inchelium School, located on the Confederated Tribes of Colville Reservation.

Coordinated by the CLP students, the clinic is for children in grades three through eight, and this year will include tribal youth from Nespelem, Colville, Wellpinit, Kalispell, Kettle Falls, Chewelah and Inchelium.

The first GU Inchelium Basketball clinic began as a CLP legacy project three years ago and was such a hit among both GU student-athletes and Inchelium children that CLP students decided to make it an annual event.

Established in 2002, CLP is an undergraduate, interdisciplinary program designed to offer students curricular and co-curricular learning opportunities to develop knowledge and skills for leadership.
