|Bulldog Store to Host Grand Opening Saturday|
Gonzaga University's new Bulldog Store, on the street level of Gonzaga's new Kennedy Apartments at 121 E. Boone Ave., will host a grand opening from 10 a.m.-6 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 29 featuring a raffle for two GU men's basketball tickets, an autographed team ball and a Datrek golf bag.
Dave Heinze, Gonzaga's director of campus stores, said that while the Bulldog Store opened for business on June 4, this will be the first concerted effort to get the word out among Spokane residents about this new location for Bulldog apparel and gift items.
The grand opening ties in with the formal dedication of the Kennedy Apartments, which will take place during a 4 p.m. ceremony the day before, on Friday, Sept. 28.
“We want to make both the Gonzaga and the Spokane communities aware of our new location,” Heinze said. “This store differs from the Gonzaga Bookstore in that our focus is on athletic apparel and gift items. The Bookstore continues to carry apparel as well as textbooks. Our location on Ruby and Boone should provide easier access for the Spokane community to shop for Gonzaga gear.”
The grand opening also features all of the store's stock in Nike and Under Armour apparel at 25 percent off. Look for an advertisement about the grand opening sale in the main news section of today's (Wednesday) edition of The Spokesman-Review, and again in the Friday and Saturday editions of the newspaper. Gonzaga also has placed ads in the the Gonzaga Bulletin weekly students' newspaper, and in the online version of The Spokesman-Review.
“We will have other merchandise specials, a visit by Spike at noon and food specials at Duff’s Bistro,” Heinze said, noting that Duff's Bistro also is on the ground floor lobby of the Kennedy Apartments. People should come prepared to shoot baskets.
“Provided the weather is good we will have free-throw shooting contests with prizes,”: Heinze said. “Many of our vendors have donated merchandise for this purpose.”
Meantime, if you can't wait to shop you can always buy Zags' apparel online at the GoZags.com official store. For more information, contact Monica Chapman, manager of the new Bulldog Store, at (509) 323-6365 or via e-mail.
