Gill Named Chief Information Officer

Chris Gill has been appointed chief information officer (CIO) and head of Information Technology Services (ITS) at Gonzaga University, replacing Joan Allbery, who had served for nine months as interim CIO.

Gill, a 17-year Gonzaga employee, has held a variety of positions in media services and ITS, including video operations manager, director of desktop support services, and most recently director of information technology project management and planning. In collaboration with Gonzaga’s information technology (IT) team, Gill has had an important role in a wide variety of major IT projects, including the recent total replacement of the campus wired data network and implementation of the campuswide wireless data network.

A 1985 Gonzaga alumnus, Gill is active in EDUCAUSE, a nonprofit association that seeks to advance higher education by promoting the intelligent use of information technology; the Project Management Institute; and the Association of Jesuit Colleges and Universities IT Managers’ Organization. He is a graduate of the EDUCAUSE Frye Leadership Institute and holds a master’s degree in technology management from Washington State University.
