(SPOKANE, Wash.) — The 2007 Gonzaga Student Body Association Spring Elections ended with strong core support for next year’s executive branch. The newly elected officers for the 2007-2008 school year are as follows:
Also on the ballot was selection of a Senior Speaker for commencement. David Perez was elected to fulfill that duty. Students also voted to add two new positions to the GSBA Executive Branch: club sports chair and an intercultural relations chair. Those positions will be added to the GSBA executive branch and overseen by the GSBA director of clubs and organizations. The number of clubs and organizations continues to grow each year; these positions will assist the GSBA director of clubs and organizations, and will allow for further expansion. The purpose of the intercultural relations chair is to insure representation for all students and create individual liaison opportunities for students involved in any club on campus. They will be in charge of advising the GSBA president on all areas of improvement in multicultural awareness and diversity as well as meeting with clubs. The Intercultural Relations Chair will work collaboratively with Kaleidoscope and clubs to promote and participate in programming and awareness activities and events. The purpose of the club sports chair is to manage the current and emerging sports clubs and to help manage the increasing use of Mulligan Field, in conjunction with student activities and the athletic department. They must hold monthly meetings with sports club captains/presidents and manage all necessary insurance, releases, roster, travel, and liability forms for sports clubs. The Club Sports Chair will be a direct avenue for clubs identified on their membership roster as “Sports.” These two positions will be added to the 11 other appointed positions, which are: Gonzaga Activities Board coordinator; GAB concerts and dances chair; GAB performing arts and lectures chair; GAB Coffeehouse chair; GAB community events chair; director of communications; publicity manager; information systems manager; director of clubs and organizations; chief of staff; attorney general; and director of budget and finance. These positions are expected to be filled later this month. For more information contact Megan Wells, GSBA director of communications at (509) 323-6837 or via e-mail. |
