| Candlelight Vigil Tonight for Virginia Tech | |
|
Remembering Students of Virginia Tech, Keeping Them in Our Prayers Gonzaga University will host a candlelight vigil at 9:15 p.m. tonight (Wednesday, April 18) on the front steps of the Crosby Student Center to express solidarity with the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University community in the wake of Monday’s tragic shooting spree that left 32 people dead. The Gonzaga Student Body Association (GSBA), in conjunction with the Residence Hall Association (RHA), sponsors the candlelight vigil. The Gonzaga students said the vigil aims to share the Gonzaga community’s concern for the dead and wounded, their families, and all the students, faculty and staff at Virginia Tech. Monday’s violent rampage is the deadliest shooting in modern U.S. history. The vigil will take place immediately following the Coffeehouse performance by singer/songwriter Sarah Olson, who will perform one song for the vigil. All Gonzaga students, faculty, and staff are invited to attend the event and are asked to wear Virginia Tech’s school colors (Chicago Maroon and Burnt Orange) during the day. The first 500 people will receive candles courtesy of GSBA and RHA. For more information, please contact Ben Folger, GSBA president, (509) 323-6874 or Megan Wells, GSBA director of communications, (509) 323-6837. |
