|
Gonzaga University and its chapter of Beta Alpha Psi (BAP), the Iota Delta Chapter, are sponsoring the annual BAP Northwest Regional Conference, “Bridge to Professionalism,” at the Jepson Center on campus today and Saturday, April 13-14. The conference was designed to prepare members of BAP, the National Honorary and Professional Accounting Fraternity, to transition from college to professional life. Several presentations are being given by working professionals and students. There are both technical sessions and sessions on chapter organizations to strengthen individual BAP branches. Speakers include Tom Bohn, vice president of relationship management at the Institute of Internal Auditors; James Specht, vice president and chief financial officer of Matrix Learning Systems, Inc.; Kimberly Scott, director of member services of the Washington Society of Certified Public Accountants; and Joe Albert, associate professor of organizational leadership at Gonzaga. Club members and faculty advisers from 15 Northwest universities have been invited and approximately 100 people are attending. The BAP fraternity is open to accounting, management information systems, and finance majors. Members must have a strong attendance record, participate in community service projects, and maintain an overall 3.0 grade-point average. BAP is recognized nationally as one of the premier business fraternity; participation in its programs builds strong leadership and networking skills.
