GU Young Alumni Work on Habitat for Humanity Home

Nearly five dozen Gonzaga University alumni are spending their morning today (Saturday) working for others at a Habitat for Humanity home in Spokane that’s in desperate need of some roofing work. The 56 members of the GU Young Alumni group are laboring at a duplex located at 1623 E. Boone Ave., where they are applying new sheathing and roofing. The GU Young Alumni began the roofing job at 8:30 this morning. The morning shift runs through 12:30 p.m., and an afternoon shift, if needed, will run until 4 p.m. The Young Alumni say they are living out one of the key lessons they learned at Gonzaga: to be people for others. Habitat for Humanity-Spokane, according to its mission, is an ecumenical nonprofit Christian ministry that brings the community together to build decent and affordable housing for all of God’s people.
