Catholic spirituality speaker and best-selling author Matthew Kelly will discuss “Lessons for Enduring Happiness” at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 8, at St. Aloysius Church at Gonzaga University. The talk is open to public, and designed for college-age individuals.

This event, sponsored by Gonzaga’s office of University Ministry, is free for GU faculty, staff and students; a $5 donation is requested for others wishing to attend.

Kelly will talk about themes from his latest book, “Perfectly Yourself: Nine Lessons for Enduring Happiness,” in which he examines some of the challenges and opportunities people face when trying to become “the-best-version-of-themselves.”

He will address issues such as knowing which attributes are really part of a person’s identity, and which should be challenged or changed. Also, Kelly is expected to outline the nine lessons, and their relevance to health and well-being, relationships, finances, career and spirituality. Kelly energizes and elevates his audiences through his deep understanding of today’s culture and Christian ideals.

A native of Sydney, Australia, Kelly began working as an inspirational speaker and author in 1993, at age 19. Since then, more than 3 million people have attended his talks, seminars and retreats. The 10 books he has written include: the New York Times bestseller “The Rhythm of Life: Living Every Day with Passion and Purpose.”
