Cowles to Address Newspapering in Sept. 14 Forum

Extra, Extra, Read All about It!

Stacey Cowles, publisher of The Spokesman-Review, will discuss “Newspapering in the 21st Century” at 7:30 a.m., Thursday, Sept. 14 at the Gonzaga University School of Business Administration Dean’s Business Forum in the Wolff Auditorium of Gonzaga’s Jepson Center.

The event is open to the public and costs $12.50 per person, which includes a continental breakfast that begins before the lecture at 7 a.m. Early reservations are recommended because the forums fill up rapidly. Please call the GU School of Business Administration at (509) 323-5991 to ensure accommodations will be available.

Cowles will discuss the tremendous challenges the newspaper industry faces in this era of rapidly expanding technological innovation. The radical evolution of retailing and advertising and the nearly infinite number of so-called “channels” of media now available to consumers are among the topics that Cowles – publisher of Spokane’s only daily newspaper – will address.

The focus of the forum will be on the future from a local publisher’s perspective and the challenges The Spokesman-Review faces to survive and flourish.
