Latin American Historian to Speak on Cinco de Mayo

Latin American historian and small business owner Gabriel J. Mendez will speak about “Setting the Record Straight: Concerning Cinco De Mayo” from noon-1 p.m., Friday, May 5 at the Teleconference Center at the Foley Center Library. The event is free and open to the public.

Mendez holds a doctorate in Latin American history with a concentration on Mexico. A native of Mexico, he also is the owner of Salsa Mendez in Spokane Valley. His salsa and guacamole can be found in grocery stores throughout the region.

In addition to sharing his expertise on the significance of Cinco de Mayo, Mendez will supply a few gallons of his salsa for attendees to enjoy.
