Surowiecki to Give Keynote at GU Economic Summit

James Surowiecki, author of the best seller “The Wisdom of Crowds” (2005; Anchor Books) will deliver the keynote speech at Gonzaga University’s 20 th Economics Symposium Thursday, April 6, at the Washington International Agricultural Trade Center.

The symposium at the Ag Trade Center (334 W. Spokane Falls Blvd.) begins with a luncheon at 11:30 a.m., followed by Surowiecki’s address, and is expected to end by 1:30 p.m.

Surowiecki, a contributing feature business writer for The New Yorker magazine, will speak on the topic, “The Wisdom of Crowds: How the Many Can Be Smarter Than the Few.” Surowiecki has written numerous other publications on a variety of topics – including “The Bottom Line” for New York Magazine – and has been a contributing editor at Fortune magazine.

This dynamic speaker argues for the collective intelligence of the organization and explores a simple idea with profound implications: large groups of people are smarter than an elite few, no matter how brilliant.

Tickets are $75 per person and $750 for a table of 10. For more information or to make reservations, contact Maureen Rieckers at the Gonzaga University School of Business Administration, at (509) 323-5502 or via e-mail at Rieckers@jepson.gonzaga.edu.
