March 8 Event to Explore Gen-Y in Workplace

Brad Sago, a professor of marketing at Whitworth College, along with a group of professional panelists will discuss “The Arrival of Millennials in the Workplace,” from 7-8:45 a.m., Wednesday, March 8 in the Les Schwab Room at the Spokane Arena.

The cost for the breakfast and discussion is $25; student discounts are available for those with current student identification. The workshop is presented by Leadership Connection, a nonprofit partnership between Leadership Spokane, Gonzaga University and Whitworth College that strives to provide convenient and affordable leadership development opportunities within the Spokane region.

The workshop will identify key traits of the Millennial Generation and discuss how these characteristics impact the workplace – especially in relationship to co-workers from the baby boom generation.

Panelist Irma Kirk, customer service manager at Premera, will give examples of how her generationally and culturally diverse work team manages relationship challenges. Panelist Rob Grabow, a Gonzaga University alumnus and co-editor of the book, “What We Think,” will provide a Generation-Y perspective. Questions from the audience will be answered by the facilitator and panelists, providing case studies for a more powerful learning experience.
