‘David vs. Goliath’

Toby Steward and Barb Beddor will share how they secured the 2007 State Farm U.S. Figure Skating Championships for Spokane at Gonzaga University School of Business Administration Dean’s Business Forum on Thursday, March 2 in Room 017 of the Jepson Center.

Steward and Beddor, owners of the Spokane-based sports management and marketing company Star USA, will address the topic of “David vs. Goliath” at the event, which is open to the public. The cost for the 7:30 a.m. presentation – which includes a continental breakfast reception starting at 7:15 a.m. in the Jepson Center Lobby – is $12.50 per person. Early reservations are recommended. Please contact the GU School of Business Administration at (509) 323-5991 to make arrangements.

Steward and Beddor have organized cities’ competitions for Olympic sports throughout the United States. In addition to the 2007 U.S. Figure Skating Championships, they will discuss their ongoing efforts to bring more Olympic-caliber events to Spokane.

Their company, Star USA, also has hosted several events in Spokane that have set attendance records that stand to this day, including the 1996 Olympic Trials in wrestling, and the prestigious 2002 Skate America international figure skating competition held at the Spokane Arena.
