GU Wind Ensemble, Chamber Concert March 9

The Gonzaga University Wind Ensemble and Chamber Winds, directed by GU music Associate Professor Robert Spittal, will present a concert featuring classic and contemporary works for chamber and symphonic wind band at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, March 9 at The Met (downtown Spokane). The event is free and open to the public.

GU music Professor Edward Schaefer, conductor of the nationally renowned Gonzaga University Choir and Schola, will be a featured guest conductor on the program.

The Wind Ensemble includes the finest woodwind, brass and percussion students at GU, and is known for its innovative programs featuring music by living composers, especially those from the Northwest.

The feature work of the concert will be Eric Whitacre’s inventive “Ghost Train Tryptich.” The concert also will feature the music of composers Percy Grainger, Theodore Gouvy, and Spittal.
