KAGU FM to Air Metropolitan's 'Aida' Feb. 18

Giuseppe Verdi’s “Aida,” with James Conlon conducting a cast that includes Andrea Gruber, Olga Borodina, and Johan Botha, will be broadcast live from the stage of the Metropolitan Opera House on Saturday, Feb. 18, at 10:30 a.m. (Pacific Time) over the Toll Brothers-Metropolitan Opera International Radio Network. The four-act opera can be heard in the Spokane area over Gonzaga University’s radio station, KAGU, 88.7 FM.

Gruber will sing the role of Aida, with Borodina as Amneris, Botha as Radames, Juan Pons as Amonasro, and Hao Jiang Tian as the King; South Korean bass Kwangchul Youn makes his Met broadcast debut as Ramfis. The announcer for the broadcast will be Margaret Juntwait.

The 21-week-long 2005-2006 broadcast season celebrates 75 years of live radio broadcasts from the Metropolitan Opera.
