STAFF ASSEMBLY EXECUTIVE COUNCIL MINUTES
Wednesday, July 2, 2003 12:00 – 1:00 p.m.
1898 Room – Administration Building
Members Present: Marcia Bertholf, Mike Casey, Kathy Sherrick, Trevor Werttemberger, Stacey Chatman
The meeting was called to order by President Marcia Bertholf at 12:10 p.m.
Minutes from the June 25, 2003 meeting were reviewed; Under #2 in “New Business†Dixon was added as Mike’s last name for the compensation committee. Since we didn’t have enough for a quorum, accepting the minutes will be delayed until July 9, 2003.
Old Business
Staff AssemblyNewsletter. Community Outreach would like to post the newsletter. The open space left for compensation committee will be changed to include the 5 top ideas for the upcoming Professional Development luncheons that Staff Assembly will sponsor with HR. Marcia is meeting with Tricia Burns tomorrow to go over details and then will write an article for the newsletter & submit to Sandra Boyd for printing & posting to the web.
Budget Committee Update: At this point, the UBC is unchanged and will still have representation from the staff. It is the responsibility of the SAEC to help the representatives come up with proposed ideas for the budget agenda and have these to Chuck Murphy no later than the first of October. Faculty Senate is still deciding on whether they will have an Academic Budget Committee. Plans are on hold until the fall. Staff under the AVP will have representation on this committee if it comes to fruition. Angela Ruff with alternate Georgia Dunham will represent the staff.
Compensation Committee Ballots - Tabled until next week. Krystal is on vacation and Mary Beth is not at the meeting today for an update.
Picnic Update - GSBA has been asked to provide some volunteers for the July 23rd event. Marcia has taken care of the liquor license for the beer garden.
Staff Survey - The report has been written and delivered to Thayne McCulloh for the Accreditation process. The report will be at an upcoming meeting.
President’s Lottery: Was not discussed today.
New Business:
Recognition of the Founding members of the SAEC
Bring ideas next week on ways we could honor those that worked so hard to bring the Staff Assembly to GU. Plaque, luncheon, etc??? What do you think?
