STAFF ASSEMBLY EXECUTIVE COUNCIL MINUTES
Wednesday, June 25, 2003 12:00 – 1:00 p.m.

Members Present: Steve Doolittle, Trisha Burns, Stacey Chatman, Mary Beth Charleboix; Kathy Sherrick, Bill Kostelec, Lisa Smythe-Rodino, Lisa Meyer, Krystal Burns.
President Marcia Bertholf absent.
The meeting was called to order by Vice President Krystal Burns at 12:10 p.m.
Minutes from the June 4, 2003 meeting were reviewed; Under #2 in “New Business†July 4th was added; rewording of the bottom tag, By virtue of the bylaws… was suggested and voted upon unanimously. Minutes approved and to be posted on web.

Old Business
President’s Lottery: Bring ideas for lottery prizes to next week’s meeting; $100 price limit.
Exempt Position on Compensation Committee: Addition of Mike Dixon as candidate; ballots due next Friday, July 4, 2003.
Picnic Committee: Still looking for volunteers for booths. Send names to Marcia or Krystal.
Brown Bag Discussions: Trisha Burns and Steve Doolittle presented their progress with the Brown Bag Sessions. The top five choices of subjects to explore in depth arising from the HUG event were finalized. It was tentatively decided to have monthly sessions at staggered times, perhaps sessions offered twice to ensure all attend; will have a professional development focus (such as certification); faculty to be used as resources; new name created. A Mission Program is being development by HR already, so issues following under GU’s mission will be addressed separately-broadly and in depth as that was a major area of confusion in both faculty and staff concerns. October is the projected presentation date. In September, Employee Relation/Communication issues will be presented; November: Direction of GU (goals/development/growth); sessions will not be presented in December. Other areas of interest to employees will be addressed using other methods such as email or flyer handouts--e.g. concerning such as questions regarding computer technology, and campus resources. Discussion ensued with people presenting ideas on how best to accomplish this.
University Budget Committee: Update at next week’s meeting.
