Staff Assembly Executive Council Minutes

March 18, 2004

1898 Room 12:30 – 1:30 p.m.

Members Present: Marcia Bertholf, Lisa Meyer, Krystal Burns, Linda Sue McClure, Kathy Sherrick, Bill Kostelec, Mary Beth Charleboix, Stacey Chatman, Kim Gieber, Cathy Perry.  Called to order at 12:35 p.m. by President Marcia Bertholf.

Minutes:          “Treasurer’s report” changed to “budget report.” Minutes to be posted to Outlook public folder and staff-L email sent out to notify staff.

Heads Up:       Krystal and Mary Beth present compilation of Heads Up comments and summary at Cabinet Meeting. Response from Cabinet was enthusiastic and supportive. Three issues came out of Heads Up: Close all offices so all staff can attend the next one and move to spring break to allow more to attend; there should be a solid show of representation from VPs, directors, supervisors. Last issue regarding possible implementation of respect policies was not favorable received as perhaps other GU policies serve same purpose.

Cultural Awareness Seminar: Will be held April 22nd per Raymond Reyes.

Proposal from UBC & ABC Staff Members: Marcia distributed Chuck Murphy’s response to the February 25, 2004 Memo regarding ceiling on salary increases. In sum, the Cabinet agreed to fully fund anniversary adjustments. Other survey adjustments will not exceed 10%. Issue remains regarding use of ceiling and 3 to 5 year adjustments versus yearly. Reconsideration may be investigated. Original memo and Murphy response posted on Staff Assembly web. Special thanks to Tim Clancy and Sue Weitz for their support; many thanks to the Cabinet for their consideration and positive response.

ABC:  Sodexho prices to be presented at the next meeting.

Basketball Tickets:  Discussion ensuing for Faculty and Staff Assemblies to form some type of a joint committee to discuss possibilities for ticket distribution next year.

Zagfit: Debbie Cerenzia and Heidi Hanson explained the Wellness Program (Zagfit) in-depth to Council with a question and answer period.

Elections: Everybody to get out there and recruit folks to run for office as several slots remain vacant.
