STAFF ASSEMBLY EXECUTIVE COUNCIL MINUTES

Wednesday, October 29, 2003 12:00 – 1:00 p.m.

1898 Room – Administration Building

Members Present:  Marcia Bertholf, Krystal Burns, Lisa Meyer, Linda Sue McClure, Mary Beth Charleboix, Trevor Werttemberger, Bill Kostelec, Kim Gieber, Jane Hession, Angela Ruff, Stacey Chatman, Kathy Sherrick, Keith Gauthier.

The meeting was called to order by President Marcia Bertholf at 12:05 p.m.

Old Business

1.)               Minutes from October 15, 2003:  Approved.

2.)               Compensation Consultant: Reminder that Friday, Nov. 7th, from 12:00-1:30 in the Foley Grenan Board Room, will be the meeting with the outside consultant team. Also noted was that the term “living wage” must be clearly defined and specified for meaning and scope.  Finally, decision as to way to post the compensation survey online is in process. Concerns about web security, keeping results internal are primary issues to be addressed.

3.)               Staff Survey-Documents for Accreditation:            Ken Sammons’ memo with our response will be posted in Plant Services and emailed to all managers. Marcia is in discussion with Thayne to determine the best way to post the staff survey results online which could include rewording the results and releasing them as one report; access of survey to accreditation committee as documentation to Standard Nine.

4.)               Term Limits: moved to next meeting’s agenda.

New Business

1.)               Staff Assembly Newsletter: The Outreach Committee is ready to do a spotlight.

2.)               Website Security: Gonzaga’s website lacks security features to prevent users from copying pages and images from pages such as photographs.  If that is a concern, especially for those who will have posted photos, please notify Trevor.

3.)               Budget Committee: Linda Sue stated that we need more money for the Staff Morale account. It was suggested that perhaps Sodexho could assist in this manner such as putting money on ID Badges for use in their facilities. Linda Sue will present a completed treasurer’s report by the end of November.

4.)               Compensation Committee:      Plant service’s uniform issue will be re-addressed as previous research into the matter needs to be clarified.

By virtue of the bylaws, all Staff Assembly meetings are open unless otherwise designated by the Executive Council. Everyone is welcome to attend.
